Starry night painting is a very popular painting that many people admire. Individuals find this painting everywhere they go, and they admire it for its values, styles, and perception.

Starry Nights by Van Gogh, is one of the paintings that I notice everyone seems to admire. If one contemplates the message behind this artwork, they will have a better understanding of our culture of life. Now that I got your attention, let’s talk about the important details of this painting that you may not be aware of.

You’re probably thinking this is just a painting with a little village. Athough I perceived a small village with few signs of life, they seem to manage to stay perfectly structured and believe in God. Although, It is visible that Van Gogh painted a church in the middle of the village. The sky is blue, which is a color of purity and loyalty, with the numerous stars that brighten the village. According to Van Gogh, this painting is more like a dream conception that he has about his village.

“And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and behold the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.”

Let’s dive deeper into the meaning of this powerful painting. This work of art is immaculate and it stems from a dark place. By dark, I mean Van Gogh used to suffer from depression and anxiety which caused him to start focusing on painting. The detail which appealed the most to me is the dark lines over each house in the village, which sets a melancholic tone. I can relate, because when I was at my lowest I used to suffer from depression, I was able to find the light to relieve my anxiety. As you look at the painting, you can visualize the lighting from the sky over the village. Now let’s talk about how I connect with Van Gogh’s painting.

CONNECTING WITH THIS PAINTING

Many of you may not feel the same way about this art. I connect with this artwork because it made me feel like myself when I look at it. It gives me hope and enlightens my style, my values, and my sensitivities. I visualized how dark my world had been and how something more powerful than me is able to free me of my ways and think positively. I learned that people are not who they appeared to be. Someone can be dying inside, and you will have no clue.

Van Gogh’s painting speaks to me in a way I know that everything I have been feeling and the way that I have been thinking is okay to feel and that I am not alone. It makes me respect and admires our beauty of nature and all its existence.

Although from a positive perspective, I am also connecting to the painting on a different level. I don’t only see misery; I am connected to it because I was raised in a small village like the painting. Even though life was not great, but we live it to the fullest and with hope for a better tomorrow. Finally, we will talk about the theme this painting raise.

THE THEME OF THIS PAINTING…

Believe what people think is not possible.

The recurring theme that stands out prominently in Van Gogh’s painting is the flowing nature of creation. Using the sky as an illustration for how no matter how large our situations and circumstances in our lives, the universe, and even just our planet continues. Continues revolving, creating, continues in all aspects. Although, this is the largest metaphor that has permeated through when I ponder over the historic painting.
